ABSTRACT

The mutation of isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) gene is associated with gliomagenesis. It has also significant positive effects on survival and chemosensitivity in comparison with IDH wild-type glioma.Being an important energetic metabolism enzyme, mutation of IDH results in changes of microstructures and metabolism.Quantitative multimodality MR imaging has ability to obtain imaging biomarkers about microstructural, physiologic and functional information, which demonstrates the promises to assess IDH gene status in vivo. The progresses of association between quantitative multimodality MRI features and IDH genesmutations in glioma were reviewed in this paper.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the relationship between apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC)value of rectal adenocarcinoma on DWI and its pathological grading. Methods The ADC values of 46 rectal adenocarcinomas were measured and compared with their histopathological grades. Results The 46 rectal adenocarcinomas included well differentiated adenocarcinomas in 14,moderate-ly differentiated ones in 20,and poorly differentiated ones in 12.The ADC values of well, moderately and poorly differentiated ade-nocarcinomas were (1.125±0.103)×10 -3 mm2/s,(1.030±0.098)×10 -3 mm2/s and (0.922±0.091)×10 -3 mm2/s,respective-ly,exhibiting a statistical difference (χ2 =1 7.35 1,P =0.000).Mann-Whitney U test showed that difference in ADC value between different histopathological grades was statistically significant. Conclusion ADC value of rectal adenocarcinoma can be used as a bio-marker for cell grading to guide treatment decision and prognosis assessment.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the value of MRI in diagnosis and assessing anatomical distributions of posterior deep infil-trating endometriosis (PDIE)using laparoscopic surgical findings as reference standard. Methods MR images of 36 patients with laparoscopic operation and pathology confirmed PDIE were retrospective analysis, and results were compared with laparoscopic sur-gical findings. Results Among the 36 patients,PDIE was identified in 34 patients at MR imaging with a sensitivity of 94.4%.Re-garding different anatomy location, the accuracy of MR imaging in diagnosis of endometriosis in uterosacral ligament (USL),re-ctosigmoid bowel, rectovaginal septum and vagina was 83.3%,91.7%,80.6% and 91.7% ,respectively.MR imaging findings were well correlated with laparoscopic surgical findings. Conclusion MR imaging can diagnose and assess the anatomical distribu-tions of PDIE with high accuracy preoperatively, which provides useful information for therapy plan making.

ABSTRACT

To improve higher training quality and capacity of orthopedic postgraduates, early contact education,problem-base learning combined with co-supervisor with radiologists were engaged for orthopedic postgraduates since 2008.Effect of the practice was assessed by postgraduates one year later.Investigation revealed that practice aroused learning enthusiasm and initiative, promoted comprehensive understanding of orthopedic knowledge, set up social responsibility, and constructed innovative thinking.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate role of exocrine cells in the pancreatic enhancement images at Manganese (II) N, N'-dipyridoxylethlenediamine-N, N'-diacetate 5, 5'-bisc (Mn-DPDP)-enhanced magnetic resonance (MR) imaging.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Artificial pancreatic leakage was constructed in six dogs using a fistula tube inserted into the duodenum papillae. Pancreatic juice was collected before and after intravenous infusion of 2 ml/kg of Mn-DPDP at a rate of 2 - 3 ml/min. The Mn content of pancreatic juice was measured by atomic absorption spectroscopy. T(1)-weighted spin-echo images and T(1)-weighted spoiled phase gradient-echo (SPGR) images were obtained prior and approximately 30 min after the administration of Mn-DPDP at 1.5T.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The Mn content of pancreatic secretion increased 60.47 +/- 21.83 micro g/dl after the administration of Mn-DPDP (t = 6.785, P < 0.01). The signal/noise ratio (S/N) of the pancreas increased 53 percent +/- 49 percent and 62 percent +/- 44% on T(1)W spin echo images and SPGR images, respectively.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Exocrine cells of the pancreas can absorb manganese and excrete it through the pancreatic juice. Exocrine cells play an important role in the enhancement of the pancreas in MR imaging with Mn-DPDP.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To evaluate high resolution CT (HRCT) in the diagnosis of diffuse pulmonary nodules.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Fifty normal chest radiographs, conventional CT and HRCT were used to evaluate the visualization of pulmonary lobule. The configuration, distribution and intrinsic structure of lesion in 38 patients with diffuse pulmonary nodules were analyzed by HRCT.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The chest radiographs were not able to show the structure of pulmonary lobule. The visualization rates of pulmonary lobule were 20% by conventional CT and 50% by HRCT (P < 0.05). Of 38 patients with diffuse pulmonary nodules, 19 had interstitial nodules which were located in the pulmonary intestities, the lobular septa and under the pleura. HRCT could clearly show their para-bronchial distribution with clear cut margin. Four had airspace nodules, chiefly shown as solidification of the air spaces. There was no nodule beneath the pleura or in the lobular septa. HRCT revealed even density and hazzy margins. Fifteen had randomly distributed nodules, with the nodules scattered at random. HRCT showed nodules with high density, sizes varying greatly but the margin was clear.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>High resolution CT is able to show the pattern of distribution, intranodular structures and background of the diffuse pulmonary nodules, which is valuable in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of this disease.</p>
